Buy this line separately only if you want tool sharing without the rest of the automotive bundle. Holding both is allowed and they stack, but you would be paying twice for the same capability.
J2534 tool sharing is live and in daily use. Proven against OEM diagnostic software — the OEM application sees the interface in its picker and works normally while the tool and the vehicle sit somewhere else entirely.
Generic USB passthrough for arbitrary devices is a separate, later thing. What ships today is the J2534 path, which is the one that matters for programming.
